Adare Hithenawa Dekkama (Remake) Lyrics English Translation

Love rises in me the moment I see you, you are as beautiful as a goddess
Stay a while, my fair one, I am coming close to you now, this is good
Love rises in me the moment I see you, you are as beautiful as a goddess
Stay a while, my fair one, I am coming close to you now, this is good

Searching for you, it flew away, the bee of my heart..
Why did you hide, my love, like a swan in the flower-pond //
Why did you hide, my love, like a swan in the flower-pond

I hid nothing at all, the truth is, I am yours ..
What I looked for, what I longed for, this love is now mine //
What I looked for, what I longed for, this love is now mine

Adare Hithenawa Dekkama (Remake) Song Meaning and Interpretation

A young man is caught off guard by how beautiful a girl is, and the words fall out of him the instant he lays eyes on her. He calls her as lovely as a goddess and asks her to stay still for a moment, because he is finally working up the courage to come close. That little phrase he keeps repeating, “this is good now,” is the sound of a man telling himself it is finally happening, that the moment he has waited for has arrived.

The song leans on a pair of images that carry a lot of weight in Sinhala love poetry. He calls his own heart a bee that went flying off searching for her. A bee chasing the scent of a flower is the classic picture of a lover drawn helplessly toward the one he wants, so when he says the bee of his heart flew out looking for you, he means his whole heart went hunting for her on its own. Then he asks why she hid from him like a swan in a flower-pond, the shy, graceful creature that slips out of sight among the blossoms. It is a gentle, teasing complaint, the kind you make to someone you adore, that she keeps pulling away just when he gets near.

Her answer turns the whole thing around. She tells him she was never hiding anything, that the truth is she is his, and that the love he was searching for is now his to keep. So the song moves from one person’s nervous longing to two people meeting in the middle. What began as a man tongue-tied by a beautiful stranger ends with both of them admitting the feeling, and the ache of wanting settles into the quiet relief of being wanted back.
