Yasas Medagedara (යසස් මැදගෙදර) is a Sri Lankan music composer, music director, audio engineer, and singer who emerged in the late 2010s as one of the busiest producers in contemporary Sinhala pop. He is known for his breakthrough single Sansarini and for composing the soundtrack of the 2022 film Adaraneeya Prarthana.
Medagedara was born and raised in Maharagama and later settled in Colombo. He grew up around music through his father and began his professional career in 2008, first as a composer and then as a vocalist. He works from his own facility, Midhouse Studios, where he handles composition, arrangement, and audio engineering for his own releases and for other artists.
His first major hit, Sansarini, was released in 2019 and became a widely shared single that established his name as both a singer and producer. He followed it with Chandrapani and Ehema Baluwama, building a catalogue that blends melodic pop arrangements with a calm, restrained vocal style.
In 2022 Medagedara composed the music for the film Adaraneeya Prarthana, a project he also helped revive after years in development. The soundtrack drew wide attention, and its song “Sewwandi Paya” won the Popular Song award at the Derana Lux Film Awards in 2023.
As a composer, Medagedara has written and produced songs for a long list of leading Sri Lankan performers. He composed Roo Sara for Bathiya and Santhush (BnS), worked with Harsha Withanage, and produced tracks for singers including Kavindya Adikari, Eranga Abeygunasekara, Lahiru Liyanage, and Gayan Arosha. His production credits span romantic ballads and modern pop singles released across the early 2020s.
