Sihinayaki Oba Nihada Madiyam Ra Lyrics

hmm.......

Sihinayaki oba nihanda mediyam ra
Nidana neth yuga sanasana
Sithum reli oba, thaniwa hindi wele
Nihanda ma hada sanasana...

Iraki oba mata, sandaki oba mata
Kisidu kisiwita samunoganna
Sayura rala oba, deatha samudura
Sayura thera ma hamuwana....

Yuga ganan apa, wenwa aa maga
Sonduru nimneka ek wela

Lowama sasarawa , bala sitiya wee
Yalidu apa atha lan wela....

Sihinayaki Oba Nihada Madiyam Ra Lyrics English Translation

hmm…….
haa…..

You are a dream, in the silence of midnight
soothing my sleeping eyes
You are the fold of my thoughts, in the hours I sit alone
quietly calming my heart…

You are the sun to me, you are the moon to me
never, at any moment, to be lost
You are the ocean’s wave, a sea of nearness
where I meet you on the shore…

For ages and ages, the road that parted us
became one lovely valley
With no sorrow, no sighing, inside our world
petals of a smiling flower scattered down

The sun is not alone, the moon too is no longer alone
they have met in one same sky
The whole world, all of saṃsāra (the cycle of rebirth), was watching
as our hands come close once more…

hmm…….
Ha………..

Sihinayaki Oba Nihada Madiyam Ra Song Meaning and Interpretation

A young man is speaking to the one he loves, and the whole song feels like a quiet promise made in the dark. It opens at midnight, in that still hour when the house is asleep and there is nothing left but his own thoughts. He calls her a dream that settles over his tired eyes and calms him. When he is sitting alone, she is the thing his mind keeps folding back to, the presence that quiets his heart. Right from the start the love here is gentle and steadying, not restless. She is not someone he chases; she is someone who brings him peace.

From there he reaches for the biggest images he can find to say how much she matters. She is his sun and his moon, the two lights he can never lose. He calls her the ocean’s wave, a whole sea of closeness, and pictures himself meeting her on the shore where the waves come in. In Sinhala love song the sun and moon stand for something constant and faithful, lights that come back every single day without fail, so saying “you are the sun and moon to me” is really a way of saying “you are the thing I can always count on, and I will never let you slip away.”

Then the song looks back over a long separation and lets it heal. For ages, he says, the road kept the two of them apart, but now that same hard road has turned into one beautiful valley they share. The sorrow and the sighing are gone, and inside their own little world the petals of a smiling flower come drifting down, an image of soft, easy joy raining over them now that they are together again. The flower that smiles and sheds its petals is happiness so full it spills over.

The last verse is the one that lifts the whole thing. The sun is no longer alone, and neither is the moon, because the two have finally met in one same sky. That is the lovers themselves, two lights that were always meant to share the same heaven. He says the whole world, all of saṃsāra, the long cycle of births and lives in Buddhist belief, stood watching as their hands drew close again. It tells you this isn’t a love measured in months. It is love carried across lifetimes, a bond that fate itself paused to witness as it finally came true. What you are left holding is calm and certainty, the feeling of two people who were always going to find each other, no matter how long the road took.
