This is a tender song of a devoted wife, sung by Neela Wickramasinghe to words by the lyricist Ajantha Ranasinghe. It opens with a beautiful image of fate: I came as an inheritance in the line of your love, she says, as though she were written into the destiny-line of his own hand, born to be his. Her wish is simple, to be the light of his life, like a steady lamp.

The middle is the marriage itself, remembered with reverence. Laying herself at his feet, she came to him that day as his pathini, his wedded wife, and she prays that the vow sealed in the wedding ring become ajaramara, deathless, and never fade.
