Kasun Primal (කසුන් ප්රිමල්) is a Sri Lankan singer and lyricist from Negombo, active across film theme songs and contemporary Sinhala pop. He is most often heard as the voice on Sihinaya Dige Enna, the theme song of the 2012 film of the same name, and is a prolific writer who has penned lyrics for a wide circle of younger Sinhala vocalists.
As a performer, Kasun Primal recorded Sihinaya Dige Enna (සිහිනය දිගේ එන්න) with composer Dinesh Subasinghe, along with Hitha Mage Alawanthai, a duet used as a teledrama theme, and the seasonal Me Avurudda Avilla, a New Year ensemble recording.
Much of his catalogue, however, is as a lyricist. He has written words for songs carried by singers such as Raween Kanishka (Kada Halena Tharuwak), Theekshana Anuradha, Udaya Sri Wickramasinghe, Noel Raj and Bachi Susan, and he has also composed melodies for younger artists. His lyrics lean toward themes of longing, dreams and quiet heartbreak, which suits the sentimental and acoustic register his collaborators favour.
Lyrics-lk presents these songs in the original Sinhala script with English transliteration and translation, so a listener can follow both the words Kasun Primal sings and the ones he writes for others.
Every Sinhala lyric, composition, and song credit by Kasun Primal.
