Ayeth Warak Mata Wada Honda Kenek Lyrics English Translation

If I had a lot of money in my hands,
you wouldn’t be leaving me like this today.
There isn’t a speck of bitterness toward you anywhere in my heart,
even though you slipped away like a passing breeze
out of my world.

One more time,
I wish you find someone better than me.
That’s what I’m praying for you.
One more time,
I wish you find someone better than me.
That’s what I’m praying for you.

You left me to life’s defeat,
while I loved you, thinking you were worth it.
By the time I understood I had been fooled,
a long stretch of time had already gone by without my knowing.
There isn’t a speck of bitterness
toward you anywhere in my heart,
even though you slipped away like a passing breeze
out of my world.

One more time,
I wish you find someone better than me.
That’s what I’m praying for you.

If one day this all comes back to you,
and you realize how true I really was,
throw open the locked doors of your mansion
and come looking for me again.
There isn’t a speck of bitterness
toward you anywhere in my heart,
even though you slipped away like a passing breeze
out of my world.

Ayeth Warak Mata Wada Honda Kenek Song Meaning and Interpretation

A young man is saying goodbye to the woman who left him, and the heartbreaking thing is how gently he does it. She walked away because he didn’t have money, and instead of cursing her for it, he tells her plainly that if only he’d been rich, she’d still be by his side. He owns the reason without making her the villain. That quiet, defeated honesty is the whole mood of the song.

What gives it its ache is that he refuses to be angry. He keeps insisting there isn’t a speck of bitterness anywhere in his heart toward her, and then he goes further than most people ever could: he prays that she finds someone better than himself. There is no bargaining, no plea for her to stay. He has accepted that he lost, and his love has turned into a wish for her happiness with another man. In Sinhala love songs this kind of selfless, almost saintly letting go is a recognized note, the lover who proves how deeply he cared precisely by wanting nothing back.

The image he reaches for is the breeze. He says she slipped out of his world like a passing wind, “sulangak wage.” A breeze touches you and is gone before you can hold it, and you can’t blame the wind for moving on, that’s simply its nature. By comparing her leaving to that, he’s telling himself she was never really his to keep, which is how he makes peace with it. Underneath, though, the breeze also carries the sting that something so light could carry away his whole world.

Then comes the turn that hurts the most. He imagines a day when she finally understands he was sincere all along, and he pictures her throwing open the bolted doors of her grand mansion to come searching for him. The mansion is the wealth he never had, the very thing she chose over him, and he dreams of her abandoning it to find him. It’s a fantasy of being vindicated, of love proving itself worth more than money in the end. But he leaves it as an “if,” a soft hope rather than a demand, and that’s what stays with you: a man who has lost everything, still wishing her well, still quietly hoping she’ll see one day what she walked away from.
