Victorious one, in love you alone are mine, my girl
This whole life of mine, you will never know again
The day you left me, I saw you in a dream
In this life without you, I am all alone
The moon has sunk away, the stars have grown dim
In my world I drown in my own tears
If your heart is there in that happiness
Even now I smile through my tears
Tender buds and flowers blooming
May your world keep smiling always
If sorrow ever comes to your heart
I will be right there, never late, not once

Vijithaya Adaraye Obamaya Laduni Mage Song Meaning and Interpretation
A young man is speaking to the woman he loves, the one who has left his life. He calls her his “victorious one,” the only person he has ever truly loved, and the ache in his voice is the ache of someone who knows he has lost her for good. The day she walked away, he says, he only got to see her again in a dream, and that line tells you everything: she is no longer someone he can reach in waking life, only in sleep. Now his days stretch out empty, and he names the loneliness plainly.
The second verse is where the song turns to the night sky to carry his grief. He says the moon has sunk away and the stars have gone dim, and in Sinhala song the moon and stars are the lights that make the dark bearable, the gentle glow you look up to. With her gone, those lights have left his sky too, so his whole world has gone dark, and he is left drowning in his own tears. What makes it tender rather than bitter is the next thought: if she is happy now, wherever she is, then he can still find a way to smile, even while the tears are running down his face.
That generosity is the heart of the song. By the last verse he is not asking her to come back. He wishes her a life full of small blooming things, buds opening, flowers coming out, the everyday signs that life goes on and stays sweet, and he hopes her world keeps smiling. Then comes his quiet promise: if sorrow ever finds her heart, he will be there in an instant, never late, not even once. He has let her go, but he has not let go of caring for her, and that is the feeling the listener is left holding, love that stays loyal even after it has lost everything.
