Sanka Dineth

Sanka Dineth (සංක දිනෙත්), born Sanka Dineth Maneesha De Silva on 12 November 1986, is a Sri Lankan singer, songwriter, and music director. He came to wider attention through the 2008 season of the televised singing contest Sirasa Superstar and has since worked across pop singles, film and teledrama scores, and live music direction, while also serving as a vocal coach on the Sri Lankan edition of The Voice Teens.

Early career and breakthrough

Dineth trained on several instruments, including guitar, piano, violin, and flute, and studied vocal classical music before moving into popular recording. His placing in Sirasa Superstar in 2008 opened the door to a career that combined performing with composing and arranging. From the early 2010s he built a reputation less as a chart pop name and more as a versatile music director, scoring films and writing theme songs for television dramas.

Songs and scores

As a composer and music director he is credited on a wide range of teledrama theme songs and film cues, often producing the arrangement as well as singing the lead vocal. One of his best known recordings is Rosa Kalpana, which earned recognition at the Derana Music Video Awards. His catalogue also covers slower, emotionally direct ballads alongside event and anthem work, such as the 2019 cricket anthem Sinhayan Api.
