It is the dead of night and a young man is awake and alone, talking to the sky because there is no one else left to talk to. The woman he loved is gone, and the song is the sound of him sitting with that emptiness, asking the moon and the stars where she has disappeared to, as if the heavens might know what he cannot bear to.

The ache builds quietly. He says she slipped into the dark and vanished, and all that remains of her is his own sighing and his wet, tired eyes. He is not even angry. He just keeps asking the same helpless question, the way grief loops back on itself in the small hours, and lands on the line that sums it all up: have I really been left this alone?
