Pinna Male Lyrics

Pinna male suda anna gihinvada
Muhuna pura pem pirila
Inna epa umba handaekare dora
Kanda kapa handa geta enna

Pinna male suda anna gihinvada
Muhuna pura pem pirila
Inna epa umba handaekare dora
Kanda kapa handa geta enna

Dunna wage nami bandi kurakkan
Anna balapan atha vanathe
Manda nage numba yanne gamen pita
Ganga goda vel eli palu vethe

Pinna male suda anna gihinvada
Muhuna pura pem pirila
Inna epa umba handaekare dora
Kanda kapa handa geta enna

Inne moko veta inna wage umba
Enne aluth avurudu kaale
Ganna epa para desa sirith neka
Meka ape Sinhala dese

Pinna male suda anna gihinvada
Muhuna pura pem pirila
Inna epa umba handaekare dora
Kanda kapa handa geta enna

Pinna Male Lyrics English Translation

Pinna male suda anna gihinvada

Pinna flower, has your symbolic whiteness changed after going out?

(Meaning: The boy is noticing a shift in her innocence and simplicity. It is symbolic, not about damaged clothing.)

Muhuna pura pem pirila

Your whole face is glowing with affection.

Inna epa umba handaekare dora

Do not stand by the doorway at dusk.

Kanda kapa handa geta enna

The moon has risen over the hilltop, come inside now.

Verse 2
Dunna wage nami bandi kurakkan

You stand shyly, curved like a bow made from kurakkan wood.

Anna balapan atha vanathe

Look around, even the forest seems to be watching you.

Manda nage numba yanne gamen pita

Why are you wandering away from the village?

Ganga goda vel eli palu vethe

Toward the empty riverbank where the sand lies bare.

Verse 3
Inne moko veta inna wage umba

Why are you staying withdrawn, as if fenced in?

Enne aluth avurudu kaale

You only seem to come around during the New Year time.

Ganna epa para desa sirith neka

Do not bring strange habits from other places.

Meka ape Sinhala dese

This is our Sinhala homeland.

Pinna Male Song Meaning and Interpretation

There is a boy in a small village who has quietly loved a girl for a long time.
He has always known her as a gentle, simple, pure-hearted “Pinna flower,” a girl whose presence felt soft and innocent, like the white clothing she used to wear.

Lately he has been noticing changes in her.

Where she once dressed in plain white, symbolizing her youthful simplicity, now she returns wearing brighter, more colorful clothing. To him, this shift feels deeper than a change in fabric or fashion. It feels like a sign that her inner world is changing as well. She is growing, opening up to new feelings, and perhaps drifting away from him without realizing it.

He sees her face glowing with a new warmth and affection, and he understands that this new feeling in her heart is not because of him. It is as if she stepped out of the village as the sweet, familiar girl he knew and returned touched by something new and exciting. Something emotional and personal that he is not part of.

As dusk settles over the village, he sees her lingering by the doorway, waiting for something or someone.
This worries him. Not because he wishes to control her, but because he cares deeply and senses that she is moving toward a life he cannot follow. He calls to her gently in song, telling her not to stay outside as the light fades. The moon is rising over the hills, and he wants her to come back inside where she is safe. Beneath his words is a quiet fear that the world beyond home may capture more of her heart.

He watches the way she stands now. She seems shy, thoughtful, almost as if she carries a secret inside her. Even the forest feels aware of the change. She wanders beyond the familiar village paths to lonely places like the riverbank. These are places where someone goes when they are thinking deeply or discovering new emotions. To him, this wandering is symbolic. She is exploring something beyond childhood and beyond the innocence they once shared.

He has noticed that she comes back home only during festive seasons. When she does return, she brings behaviors and influences from other places. She feels less like the simple Pinna flower of their village and more like a girl shaped by experiences outside his world.

He tries to hide his worry behind talk about customs and traditions. He tells her not to bring the habits of other places into their Sinhala village. But beneath those words is a boy trying to say something he cannot express directly.
He is trying to say, in his own awkward and gentle way, that he misses who she used to be and that he fears he is losing her.

Throughout the song, his concern is quiet and sincere. He sees her changing faster than he can understand. He sees her stepping into color, emotion, and maturity while he remains the same boy who adored her from the start.

The song is ultimately about a boy watching the girl he loves grow into a new version of herself. He is happy for her, yet he is also afraid that her path may lead her somewhere far from him. It is a tender and heartfelt portrayal of love and change.
