Rain wets the earth, yes, but is rain really the only thing that soaks the ground? Stars fill the night sky, but do stars belong only to the night? Birds sing their love songs, but are they the only ones who get to sing? Each question has the same quiet point underneath it. The world is bigger and more shared than it first looks, and so is love.

Then she turns the same idea on the two of them. You are mine, only mine, she says, and that feels complete. But is it only me you have? There is a tenderness and a little ache in that line.
