Kimada Nawe Lyrics
Kimada nawe ai nawe taraha vi
Kavuda kiwe boru kiwe mage daya
Pera nuye ai vuye ada vage
Kimada nawe ai nawe ada oya
Semadama bala sitiya
Mage kavluwa langata vela //
Kavadaavath na vuye me vage
Kimada nawe...
Mage palpatha ada paluyi
Nihandai andurai ahthe //
Kavadaavath na vuye me vage
Kimada nawe...
Kimada Nawe Lyrics English Translation
Why didn’t you come, why didn’t you come, are you angry with me
Who told you, who told you lies, my love
It was never like this before, so why today
Why didn’t you come, why didn’t you come today
Every single day I watched and waited
standing close by my window
Never once was it like this
Why didn’t you come…
My little hut is empty today
silent, and full of darkness
Never once was it like this
Why didn’t you come…

Kimada Nawe Song Meaning and Interpretation
A young man stands at his window the way he does every day, watching the path, waiting for the girl he loves. Only today she doesn’t come, and the whole song is him asking, gently and a little desperately, why. Did someone make her angry? Did someone whisper lies about him? He keeps turning it over, because nothing like this has ever happened before, and he can’t make sense of the sudden silence.
The waiting is the heart of it. He tells us he stood by his window day after day, always at the same spot, always sure she would appear, and that quiet routine is what makes her absence hurt so much. When the person you expect simply doesn’t arrive, the ordinary place where you waited turns into a place of doubt.
The image that lands hardest is his home. He calls it his pael-patha, a small thatched hut, a humble cottage rather than a grand house, and he says today it feels empty, silent, and dark. He isn’t really describing the building. A house only feels alive because of the person you share it with, and with her gone the rooms go quiet and the light seems to drain out of them. The darkness is inside him as much as around him. By the end he is still asking the same question he started with, no answer in sight, just a man at a window in a dim little house, hoping she will come tomorrow.
