A young man is holding the woman he loves, and the whole song is just that feeling: how safe and complete he feels with her near. He isn’t chasing her or aching for someone far away. She is already here, in his arms, and what he wants is for this closeness to last not only for now but through every life to come.

That last idea is the heart of the song, and it sits in one Sinhala word he keeps returning to, saṃsāra, the long cycle of being born and reborn that Buddhists believe we all travel through. When he says he is “melting into saṃsāra” beside her, he means his love is not the size of one lifetime.
