Roshan Fernando

Roshan Fernando is a Sri Lankan singer, drummer, and bandleader, best known as the frontman of the live pop band Flash Back and for the 2013 hit “Oya Nisa Hadala”. He fronts one of the country’s busiest stage and concert acts, and his recordings span romantic pop, cover versions, and seasonal songs.

Career and Flash Back

Fernando started out as a drummer before stepping forward as a vocalist, and he leads Flash Back, the Sri Lankan pop band that has been performing since the early 1990s. Under his direction the group became a fixture at concerts, weddings, and festivals at home, and toured for the diaspora across the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, and the United Kingdom, among other countries.

His turn to lead vocals is often traced to the music video for “Poojaniyai Adare.” A few years later the romantic single “Oya Nisa Hadala” became his signature record, and he was recognised at the 2013 people’s awards for the song and as a popular singer.
