ම්ම්.. හාහාහා... //

Mmm.. ha ha ha…
The hopes that bloomed in your heart
brimming with the honey-wine of love,
and yet, in my world, the lamp
that love had lit has gone out..
Mmm.. ha ha ha…
I.. am drunk, lost in it…
Those blue eyes of hers were once mine,
those same eyes belong to another today.
The garlands of love that blossomed within my heart
have withered… drawn close now to parting…
Mmm.. ha ha ha…
I.. am drunk, lost in it…
The love I never got to have
has stirred awake inside your heart.
Once your fingers are laced in mine, never to part again,
fall under its spell… may love and laughter grow.
Mmm.. ha ha ha…
I.. am drunk, lost in it…
The hopes that bloomed in your heart
brimming with the honey-wine of love,
and yet, in my world, the lamp
that love had lit has gone out..
Mmm.. ha ha ha…
I.. am drunk, lost in it…

Vikasitha Pathuman Obe Laye Song Meaning and Interpretation
A young man is watching the woman he loves move on into a happy love with someone else, and he is trying, in the same breath, to bless her and to admit how much it hurts. That is the quiet heartbreak running through this whole song. Her heart is full of hope and the sweetness of new love, but his own heart has gone dark. He says it without bitterness, which is what makes it ache.
The picture he opens with carries the whole feeling. In her chest, hope is “blooming,” filled with meevitha, the honey-wine of love, that warm, intoxicating rush of being in love. In Sinhala song love is often described like a drink that leaves you tipsy and floating, and that is exactly the state he keeps coming back to in the refrain, “I am drunk, lost in it,” even as the love itself is no longer his. Against her blossoming, he sets the image of a lamp. The lamp that love had once lit in his world has been blown out. A lit lamp standing for a living hope, and a snuffed-out one for hope gone cold, is an image any Sri Lankan reads instantly.
Then he says the thing that hurts most plainly. Those blue eyes of hers were once his, and now they belong to someone else. The garlands of love that flowered inside him have wilted as the moment of parting draws near, the same way fresh flowers go limp once they are cut. And yet, in the last verse, he does something generous and very Sri Lankan. The love he himself never got to keep has woken up in her heart for another man, and instead of cursing it, he wishes it well. Once her hand is in that other person’s hand for good, he prays that love and laughter only grow between them.
What the listener is left holding is that gap between her full heart and his empty one. He is stepping aside, blessing a happiness that is not his, and the gentle, drunk-on-love refrain keeps circling back like a man who cannot quite let go of a feeling he has already lost. It is the sound of letting someone go while still loving them.
